I had a purple sleeping bag my parents gave me when I was two. I was afraid of the dark as a kid – well, no – more so what was in the dark. Upset when my parents fought and argued. And the sleeping bag was good because I could curl up underneath it and pretend I was somewhere else. I’d rub it between my fingers and that simple rubbing motion put me to sleep. Eventually it became my crux. I couldn’t sleep without it, without sound or a light on. It was the thing I cried to when I was scared, bore all my loneliness when I felt isolated, and something that made me feel inexplicably safe – I imagine that warm feeling

Edelweiss

I rise, to stumble, and fall. But only plaster breaks on impact. Cracks line the mask of clay. Almost useless to try again. Thread of ties are frayed of use. Tightened knobbly knots too loose. So, on ground, gently lower the masks – And thread the stems of edelweiss into my curls – The wreath of mountain flower and daisy crowns. (No more masks. Only truth.) So, I rise, to stumble, and rise again.

I'm a pretty get-going, confident, curious kind of woman - my hobbies and interests are always changing to whatever catches my eye. I'm studying Business next year, am currently learning Sindarin, enjoy a bike ride three days a week and walking to keep fit, and am an eclectic Witch. Fuck you Lion King.

Ugh. Disney. I've been doing extremely well all things considered, so has everyone else, and I've been helping hold it altogether by being a mother and a father to my family. It's been really good, and then we were watching the Lion King and we get to the part where Simba's trying to wake up Mufusa and my brother runs into his room hiding his face, and Mum bursts into tears besides me. Why? Because of one fucking line. "Dad, wake up. We've gotta go home." "Dad, wake up" was what my brother said when Dad collapsed and I was performing CPR on him. "We've gotta go home" is what my mum used to say in her dreams to Dad, about him coming back

Why good people have rules.

Good people have rules because some of us had to dig around in hell first to earn wings. Good people have rules because they have things in their past they don't want coming back. Good people have rules because they're not good people without them (not really). Good people have rules because when you push them far enough, when you come back as a ghost and try to scare them into submission, they take a gun and shoot you in the neck. Then afterwards they go bake cookies, take a shower, make a cup of coffee and wait for the police to turn up. Good people have rules because without them they're twisted and scary inside and they want so badly
